I am a studio fine artist. I work in many different forms of medium including watercolor, oil, acrylic, and I even create compositions with my handy film camera every once in a while. I have been an artist my whole life but it was only a few years ago that I quit my job and decided that I wanted my Art to be my full time job.

Someone once asked me if I ever thought to quit painting. The truth is that I have never even considered it. That doesn’t mean that it is easy or that I never struggle with the process. But it is what I always want to do at the end of the day and what I am most excited to do when I wake up. It feels like something that is mine in a way where I not only have the skill and control that it takes but I also have this incredible freedom of expression. And it seems that it has always been that way.

Art was even a part of me before I was born. My grandmother, who is also my namesake, and her mother are both talented artists. Creating with my grandmother and then living in and visiting places that she both lived in, has not only inspired me but has tied me to her and my heritage in ways I did not expect.

While in school, at Brigham Young University, I worked so many different jobs, which is a mile long list we can get into another time. Many of them were in artistic spaces including framing, floral design, art galleries, and book binding. They have all taught me so much about other creative fields and have inspired a lot of my personal work.

Kris (my husband) and I, currently live in West Jordan, Utah. We recently welcomed Summer, our little girl who we adore. Along with raising/spending time with her, we’re pretty into everything including the mountains, movies, concerts, and adventure but mostly doing all of those things together.

So What Inspires Me?

I’ve been told that my work looks like a modern day Jane Austen. I find so much inspiration in the Victorian and English Georgian eras. All of that intentional decor really gets me. Some of my favorite artist that inspire me are Bouguereau, Giotto, and Monet, or modern artist’s like Jamie Beck, Nathalie Lete, and Janet Hill. The world around me including a heavenly cloudy sky or an intimate landscape, or a floral arrangement will often find their way into my work. Still, I also feel inspired by my relationships especially my newest relationship with my daughter Summer, or the love my husband Kris shows me daily.
