Madonna and Child

$25.00

Madonna and Child

Limited edition giclee print on fine watercolor paper

8”x10

Limited Edition means I print only a limited number of prints that will never be reprinted again. I sign and number each print so it is almost as good as having an original since only 20 other people in the world will have this painting.

This painting was created on a slow November day when I was pondering the upcoming Christmas Season. I have always loved depictions of Mary and Christ but I wanted to focus a little more on her relationship with him as a new mother. Mary is someone I see as one of the strongest women ever to live. She trusted in God even when she knew she might be stoned for being with child before she was married. She knew and trusted herself and God enough to risk her life to bring a Child into this world that would be our Redeemer and Savior. I have always loved symbolism in paintings so I decided to include the White Lily in my painting of her. The Roman Catholic Church adopted the white lily (later known as the Madonna lily) as a symbol for the Virgin Mary—its whiteness symbolizing Mary's purity, innocence, fertility, and connection to the divine.

Started this year as a family of three and ended it as a family of 4 with so many incredibly fun memories. Captured a few of the good ones on film and I may or may not have printed out these film pictures 3 times accidentally. 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s
