Woman of Light

from $28.00

Original oil on canvas framed in vintage gold frame

22” x 26”

I had an image of this painting in my head when I was driving home and had stopped at a stop light and was admiring the clouds. I suddenly had an image of a face being painted within the clouds and I raced home so I could sketch the idea for this painting. Months later I would finally sit down to paint it and I was truly in for one of the hardest pieces I’ve ever created. This painting took many revisions, many times of scraping the paint off, and many times covering sections that were making me crazy.

I always want to create more paintings of a female Deity. The female side of religion and female perspective still seems so unexplored. Usually a female god is depicted as “Mother Earth” or “Mother Nature” grounding her to merely this Earth but I wanted to include her in the sky and in the light and heavens. The title “Woman of Light” came from an idea from a friend on Instagram and I loved the title so much I had to use it for this piece. I wanted her to send forth light and love and look warm and soft and strong. Very proud of this piece and how it turned out after so much pressure and revisions to get it right.

Started this year as a family of three and ended it as a family of 4 with so many incredibly fun memories. Captured a few of the good ones on film and I may or may not have printed out these film pictures 3 times accidentally. 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s
